Thursday, January 5, 2023, another Telkom University community service team resumed its cooperation with Sukapura Village. Beginning in 2021 which proposed a simple cassava cutting tool until 2022 the beginning of an automatic cassava cutting tool was successfully launched, now the collaboration is continued by providing dried spices with cassava chips. The mixer can certainly be used to facilitate the mixing process that was previously carried out manually by using hands and of course increasing production capacity so that the productivity of cassava chips production can increase.
The activity was attended directly by the Head of Sukapura Village, Ms. Ganjar Sukmawibawa, and was accompanied directly by the team leader Mr. Dino Caesaron. At that time the Head of Sukapura Village was attending a meeting between villages in West Java, in Sukabumi. Around 10 participants both from the village apparatus and the PKK team were present in the Sukapura Village Hall by maintaining a health protocol by wearing a mask and keeping distance. The event began with the opening and remarks from the team leader and continued by the village head's mother.
Furthermore, the team leader gave exposure and demonstrations related to the use of dry seasoning mixer with cassava chips. From the results of the demonstration of the use of the machine there are a number of things that need to be improved in the future, namely the engine material that was originally made from plastic (tupperware) needs to be replaced because the seasoning attached to the plastic. In the future the engine will be replaced using stainless steel material to prevent the spices that stick. In addition to the stirring machine demonstration, a demonstration was also used by the use of sealer machines for packing cassava chips that were ready to eat.
Furthermore, discussions were held regarding the situation of existing conditions and PKM plans going forward. From the discussion obtained some information, including Sukapura Village is currently building a location for making cassava chips. The location is in the Sukapura area using village assistance funds in 2023. On this occasion, the team also decided to assist the procurement of the cassava chips display display. This activity was closed with the handover of the two machine tools (mixing and sealer).
Seeing the enthusiasm of the participants and village officials as well as the results of feedback, cooperation is expected to continue until it becomes processed cassava products that are ready to be marketed. The application of industrial engineering is needed to create a productive, efficient, safe, healthy, and guaranteed product.
