The use of information technology in an effort to improve the economy of the Cisewu community

Thursday, November 5, 2020, located in the Hall of Sukajaya Village, Cisewu District, Garut Selatan Regency, a team from the Telkom University Industrial Engineering Faculty conducted community service activities in the form of training for farmers, village patriot representatives and Sukajaya Village BUMDes (BUMDes) with the topic of information technology for marketing and managing superior products of farmers and local residents.

As said by the Head of the Community Service Team, Yudha Prambudia, Ph.D "This training activity aims to introduce the community, especially farmers and BUMDes managers to switch to the use of information technology in marketing and managing superior products in Sukajaya Village". According to the Village Patriot representative in charge of helping the community in the Sukajaya Village area that "Often farmers experience loss sale because the goods sold get a cheap price because they sell to middlemen. In addition, the handling of goods stock is felt to be ineffective because it still uses traditional methods by checking directly to storage places that are quite far away, so that it takes travel time and checks". It is hoped that using information technology to market the superior products of Sukajaya Village, farmers or BUMDes managers can directly sell their farmers to buyers at higher prices than to middlemen, explained Yudha added.

The activity began with a remarks from the Head of Sukajaya Village, Pujarsono, S.Hut. He explained "The superior product of ant sugar and coffee in our village has its own uniqueness, the sugar grains produced will be smoother than white sugar/sand in general". He hopes that this activity can help farmers market sugar and coffee, so that the benefits are higher. In addition, he hopes that this kind of activity can run consistently to jointly advance the economic, social, community of Sukajaya Village.

The training conducted was the making of ' e-Marketplace ' using social media ' Facebook ' that was delivered by Isnaeni, MT, and the use of the 'Qasir' application for various types of activities in BUMDes delivered by Dino, Ph.D. According to Andri as a representative of the village patriot, "the farmers are quite enthusiastic about participating in this training, but the obstacle encountered is technological knowledge that is minimal from the participants so that it requires its own patience to explain it".

In the closing session, Pujarsono expressed his appreciation for the initiative and enthusiasm of the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Industry of the Telkom University who conducted dedication to help the community, with real work. He also hopes that there will be further assistance from Telkom University, especially to farmers, BUMDes managers and the general public of Sukajaya Village, including village patriot which is expected to be a driver.
